SUGGESTED PLAY FORMATS
General Notes
- 'Closest to the Pin' and 'Longest Drive' markers can be provided, and work well with any format
- Handicaps may be used to 'even up' teams for closer competition. Also, in an alternate shot format, it's a good idea to pair up an experienced player with a novice player
- 'Flight' systems are a good way of achieving a wider distribution of prizes. Contact our Pro Shop for more details on this or any other format
Four Ball
- Each player scores his/her own ball
- Prizes can be awarded on an individual and/or team basis, gross and/or net scores
Alternate Shot
- Teams of two
- One Player tees off on all even numbered holes, the other on all odd numbered holes
- The players alternate shots between them until they finish the hole
- Mixed doubles is a popular choice for this format
- Prizes can be awarded on a team basis
Best Ball
- Teams of two, three or four
- Each player scores his/her own ball; the lowest score on each hole is used for the team score on each hole
- Teams may be required to use each player's score a minimum number of times
- Prizes can be awarded on an individual and/or team basis gross and/or net scores
Scramble
- Teams of two, three or four
- Each player tees off; the position of one of the balls is chosen, the rest of the players pick up their balls and all play from the chosen position
- One of the balls is again chosen and all play from that spot, repeating this process until the hole is complete
- Teams may be required to use each player's tee shot a minimum number of times
- Prizes can be awarded on a team basis
