This year's camps will be run by White Oaks Golf Club, Gord Cochrane, Head Professional and Canadian PGA member.
Our program has classes of 6 students per instructor, and run 3 or 4 classes of 6 students per 4-day camp. These camps are open to girls and boys ages 8 - 14 years.
Each camp is four days, usually Monday to Thursday, hours are 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. When holiday Mondays occur, the camps will be Tuesday to Friday.
For 2008 the students will be put into classes of 6 according to age. The curriculum concentrates on "golf basics," and will be presented in a relaxed atmosphere.
Drills, small competitions, and games will make it fun! Golf rules, etiquette, course management, and just plain proper demeanor around a golf facility, will be stressed.
Also, we will teach that traditions and respect for other people and the game are essential.
Even though students at different levels will be in the same class, the instructor will assist each student individually, and consequently each student should progress to a higher level.
Each class of 6 students will have instruction and practice for 3 to 3.5 hours, and play 9-holes each day. Convenient breaks and a 40-minute lunch period are also provided.
Lunch is included in the fee. The 6 students in a class will be divided into 2 threesomes for the 9-holes of golf.
Their Canadian PGA instructor will play with each threesome 2 of the 4 days, while another adult - a qualified amateur - will play with the other threesome.
As such, each group will have a good model with which to observe and play.
The camps are commencing Mon. June 16, 2008. The last camp will end on August 28.
The camp fee per participant is $290, all taxes included.
Rental clubs are available if needed at $3 per day. Also, we have good junior sets for sale at 10% off.
Names of juniors wishing to be participants can be telephoned to the White Oaks G.C. Pro Shop beginning Monday, March 3, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. (905)257-5409.
Registration forms will be numbered in the sequence of the telephone calls received, then mailed out and asked to be completed and returned to White Oaks G.C. by Monday April 7, 2008.
At that time, the juniors will be listed onto the camp week enrolment sheets in the order of the initial phone calls.
The registration form will ask for 3 (listed in priority) choices of a preferred week.
We enjoy running these camps, and look forward to another busy season.
